Online Bingo is essentially the same game as the traditional bingo and is not a difficult game at all. The rules of an online bingo game may differ from bingo site to bingo site, but the main principle of the game remains unchanged.

Online Bingo Guide

To get started playing a game of online bingo, first, you’ll need to register an account with a bingo site. Usually, you’ll be asked to provide information regarding your name, age, as well as the username that you wish to show up when playing the game.

Also, many of these bingo sites will give you a sign-up bonus. You can consider this bonus a free money that you can use to play a game of bingo. You can purchase cards for bingo games with this money or play other games that the website offers.

After you have purchased cards for a particular game, you just sit back and wait for that game to begin. Usually, bingo sites use a timer to count down to the start of the bingo game. You should know that there are two main types of bingo that are played online.

These two games are the 75-ball bingo and the 90-ball bingo. The 75-ball bingo is usually played in America, while the 90-ball game is played in the UK. In both games, a virtual caller will choose the numbers at random, and the numbers will be automatically dabbed for you. As in traditional bingo, the numbers are always called first by the letter and then by the number.

75-Ball Bingo

As stated in the text above players in America enjoy 75-Ball Bingo. This bingo variation uses 75 numbers divided into five groups of fifteen by the letters B, I, N, G and O. Numbers 1-15 use B, numbers 16-30 use I, numbers 31-45 use N, numbers 46-60 use G, and O is used for 61-75.

The Bingo cards have a total of 25 spaces – 5 numbered spaces across and 5 down. The centre position is marked “FREE”, while each remaining space on the card gets filled randomly with numbers. Players need to fill the required spaces to complete a pattern, which is defined at the beginning of the game.

90-Ball Bingo

In Europe, the bingo game is different than the one in the US. The basics of the game are the same, but the bingo card and winning patterns are different. The cards are not called bingo cards, but rather Bingo Tickets. The game makes use of 90 numbers instead of 75.

The ticket consists of three rows of numbers in 9 columns. The rows have 5 numbers with the remaining spaces left blank. So, in total, you have 15 numbers places in 27 spaces. The first column holds numbers between 1-9, the second column 10-19, and so on.

Winnings in 90-ball bingo are awarded in 3 phases: 1-Line, 2-Lines and Full House. The player who daubs one full line across wins the first prize. The one who completes two full lines across wins the second prize. The player who daubs all numbers on the ticket wins the Full House prize.

80-Ball Bingo

Another type of bingo game that has its own rules and method of how to play is the 80-Ball bingo. This game is now being offered by most bingo sites since its popularity increases, and it provides a midway point for players who find the 90-ball game too long and the 75-ball too short. Again, the main difference in this bingo game type is based on the card used. As suggested by the title, a total of 80 balls are used and the card features a grid of 4×4 squares - 16 squares in total.

Each column of the 80-ball bingo card is coloured. Column 1 is red and represents numbers between 1-20, Column 2 is yellow and represents numbers between 21-40, Column 3 is blue and represents numbers between 41-60, and Column 4 is silver, representing numbers 61-80.

Bingo sites or halls often vary the winning patterns which need to be completed. Usually, they will offer a standard full-house, but you can also find horizontal, diagonal, vertical, BIG X or centre square version, as well as other patterns. As with other bingo variations, the one who manages to complete the bingo pattern first wins.

How To Start Playing Bingo

Now that you have an understanding of the different types of game, let’s continue to the actual bingo rules and gameplay. Regardless of whether you are playing online or offline, first you need to purchase bingo cards/tickets.

In 75-Ball American Bingo, the winning pattern will be issued before the start of the game. It is this pattern that players must daub to win the Bingo game. There are several major patterns, but when playing Bingo online, you’ll be offered with more than 300 patterns in Bingo games.

Once the game begins, the numbers called will be decided by a computerized random number generator. This ensures the absolute fairness and random selection of numbers during every Bingo game. This modern technology is utilised by both offline and online Bingo halls.

If you daub the numbers personally, you must pay close attention to the numbers called. The more cards/tickets you purchase, the more quickly you must find the numbers and daub them before the next number is called.

Calling Bingo in online Bingo halls is different from calling Bingo in offline Bingo halls. In a land-based Bingo hall, the player needs to shout Bingo loudly over the crowd. In an online Bingo hall, players can call ‘bingo’ automatically, i.e. the software halts the game, announcing that the winner. This option can be switched on or off, but automatic is usually preferred.

When all winners are declared, the Bingo game ends and you can prepare for the next game. Prizes are awarded accordingly. In online bingo, winnings are automatically deposited into the player’s account, while in offline Bingo Halls, a voucher is usually provided to be redeemed at the counter before leaving.
